Responsibilities

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Properly prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of specimen collection and process activities.
  • Perform specimen processing duties in both clinical and forensic settings with confidence and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ensure a safe and professional environment at all times.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence and confidentiality of patient information.
  • Perform daily tasks accurately and timely under the supervision of the area manager.

Required Skills

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills to foster a positive patient experience.
  • Proficiency in keyboard and data entry tasks.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience is required; over one year preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • Reliable transportation to the worksite is necessary, with a commute time ideally within 20-25 minutes.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime based on staffing needs.
  • Must be punctual, dependable, and able to stay for entire scheduled shifts without excessive absenteeism or tardiness.
