Water Meter Reader

We're looking for a reliable, customer-friendly Water Meter Reader to join our utility operations team. You'll read and record water meters on assigned routes, inspect equipment for defects, assist with meter installations, and interact professionally with the public. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in keeping utility services running smoothly.

Pay: Up to $16.50 per hour

What You'll Do

• Read water meters on an assigned route and accurately record readings
• Report meter skips or meters that are not acceptable for reading
• Visually inspect meters for proper function and report defective equipment
• Turn water meters on and off; install or assist with installation of meters and meter boxes
• Repair leaks and broken water lines as needed
• Explain and interpret unusual readings to customers in a clear, courteous manner
• Perform other related field duties as directed

What You Need

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work outdoors and walk assigned routes daily
• Reliable, punctual, and professional with the public

Nice To Have

• Knowledge of local street geography and city layout
• Knowledge of plumbing and water meter installation and repair
• Ability to perform routine math calculations quickly and accurately
• Legible handwriting for accurate field records
