Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Medical Office Checkout Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is responsible for assisting patients at checkout, scheduling follow-up appointments, collecting payments, and ensuring a smooth and positive end-of-visit experience. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Greet patients at checkout in a courteous and professional manner

Schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and procedures as directed

Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances

Verify patient information and insurance details at checkout

Provide patients with visit summaries, instructions, and receipts

Answer basic billing and scheduling questions or direct patients appropriately

Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system

Communicate effectively with clinical staff and billing departments

Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Previous experience in a medical office, front desk, or checkout role preferred

Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus

Strong customer service and communication skills

Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities

Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment

Proficiency with computers and medical software/EMR systems
