Our client offers a competitive $125k-$150k Base (Flexible/negotiable DOE) + Commissions. Income expectations in first year are ~$225k+

Company Overview: Our client has ~40 years of experience as an innovator in water meter testing and technology services industry. They are the pioneers behind a patented product for water meter testing and proprietary software solutions.

Reporting: The Regional Director of Sales reporting to the Vice President of Sales

Job Summary
The Regional Director of Sales is responsible for all sales activity for our client in the assigned region. This role is the main point of contact for key accounts and prospects, promoting our client's product portfolio. The position requires someone who can operate in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment, manage shifting priorities, and consistently meet or exceed revenue and sales KPI targets. The Director will grow existing accounts and develop new business.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly pipeline updates and monthly sales forecasts to the VP of Sales and leadership.
  • Manage the regional sales pipeline, including KPIs, prospect tracking, key account management, and trip reports.
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers to create ongoing business opportunities.
  • Consistently meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue goals; performance will be measured against established KPIs.
  • Maintain strong presence with key accounts while prospecting, penetrating, and developing new customers.
  • Lead sales presentations, manage prospects through our client's sales cycle, and close new business.
  • Partner with marketing and product management on product positioning, pricing, and market analysis to maximize margins and competitiveness.
  • Help develop and communicate our client's value proposition and support lead-generation programs.
  • Keep all customer and prospect activity current in the CRM (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Build customer-centric, long-term relationships and coordinate all customer communications (meetings, calls, follow-ups).
  • Support sales and business development efforts at industry events and conferences.
  • Develop territory/coverage strategies using a consultative selling approach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven, hands-on sales leadership experience; familiarity with strategic selling methodologies (e.g., Miller Heiman, Sandler).
  • Experience building and scaling a sales region in a high-growth or startup environment.
  • Data-driven approach; adept at using CRM systems to manage pipeline and forecast.
  • Strong presentation skills; able to present to prospects, partners, and senior leadership.
  • Able to operate under pressure and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Able to communicate market trends effectively within our client's organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships at multiple levels (customer, partners, internal teams).
  • Experience selling complex, value-based solutions; deal size $250K+ with 12+ month sales cycles.


Competencies
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and analytical.
  • Strong time and priority management; able to recalibrate quickly.
  • Experience in or knowledge of the water / water meter testing industry preferred.
  • Experience selling subscription-based software with long-term service/maintenance contracts preferred.


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field required; MBA a plus.
  • 8+ years of successful sales and/or sales management experience, preferably in the water industry; experience with meter testing and AMR/AMI products is a plus.
  • Extensive travel required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to simplify complex topics.
  • Comfortable working with multiple cultures and business practices; global mindset.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, MS Office, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles as needed.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternative schedules based on projects.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, wet/humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles depending on customer site visits.
  • Role requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, climbing, and occasionally lifting up to 15 lbs.
  • Extensive travel is required.
