Principal – Mechanical Engineer

I am partnered with a growing, full-service engineering firm as they look to for a brand new Principal Engineer to lead and expand its Mechanical team. Known for delivering practical, constructible solutions across healthcare, education, commercial, and mixed-use sectors, this firm combines deep technical expertise with a collaborative, low-ego culture.

This is a pivotal Principal-level opportunity with a defined pathway to future Partner and the chance to earn a stake in the firm as part of its long-term growth. What You'll Do

• Serve as Principal-in-Charge on HVAC and plumbing design projects, overseeing work from early concepts through construction.
• Provide day-to-day leadership for the Mechanical team, including staffing, mentorship, technical reviews, and process development.
• Drive coordination efforts across disciplines to ensure high-quality, constructible designs.
• Partner with clients, architects, and contractors to deliver solutions that are both creative and cost-effective.
• Support business development, proposal writing, and client relationship management.
• Play a key role in shaping firmwide strategy, operations, and technical direction.

What You Bring

• PE license in Colorado; licensure in additional states is a plus.
• Proven years of mechanical engineering experience in building design, ideally in a consulting or multi-disciplinary setting.
• Deep expertise in HVAC and plumbing systems, including infrastructure upgrades, system selection, and code compliance.
• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, ICC, LEED, and other applicable standards.
• Experience leading teams, managing project financials, and mentoring junior staff.
• Proficiency with tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, and Bluebeam.
