General Manager

Description:

This position exists to (1) oversee the local functioning of corporate operational systems; (2) develop and expand the revenue performance and business potential of the hospice; (3) be responsible for the patient and family services program at the hospice; (4) represent the company in the community.

Responsibilities

  1. Overseeing the Local Functioning of Corporate Operational Systems
  2. Implement the company's systems, policies, and standards to ensure the hospice meets and exceeds all applicable regulatory requirements, including state licensure, federal certifications, and accreditations. Ensure readiness for inspections, surveys, and reviews.
  3. Maintain knowledge of and ensure adherence to Medicare Conditions of Participation and other applicable regulations and policies.
  4. Supervise compliance of administrative functions and policies with regulatory agencies, including maintaining personnel records for Medicare surveys.
  5. Coordinate with corporate staff, medical director, PCA, team manager, and admissions manager to prepare for regulatory surveys.
  6. Collaborate with VPO, Regional Medical Director, NPCA, RDMD, and other resources for guidance and support.
  7. Developing and Expanding Revenue Performance
  8. Negotiate contracts with community partners and vendors to ensure favorable outcomes.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, and healthcare organizations based on the corporate business plan and revenue budgets.
  10. Manage contract implementation, discharge planning, and case review functions to ensure compliance and positive results.
  11. Establish ongoing relationships with the management of contracting entities to promote smooth operations.
  12. Manage financial functions including profit and loss statements, receivables, collections, and accounts payable.
  13. Develop and maintain relationships with physicians, educating them about hospice needs and improving existing relationships.
  14. Supervise admissions through the admissions manager.
  15. Oversee day-to-day operations utilizing business intelligence tools, including financial management, recruitment, quality assurance, payroll, admissions, and staff development.
  16. Responsible for the Patient and Family Services Program
  17. Oversee clinical services across various settings, including staffing, patient experience, and employee engagement.
  18. Manage the Volunteer Program and ensure compliance with the work plan.
  19. Monitor program performance and quality metrics, including CAHPS scores.
  20. Representing the Company in the Community
  21. Serve as the official spokesperson, managing public relations and media requests.
  22. Respond to social media and community inquiries, and handle complaints from patients, families, and the public.
  23. Other Tasks
  24. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of managerial experience
  • Previous healthcare sales management experience
  • Knowledge of budget development, financial profit/loss processes, and human resources
  • Ability to relate effectively with superiors, peers, and subordinates

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
